چکیده

Vascular anomalies are congenital vascular tissue aberrations, hich are commonly identified in the head and neck and known to ffect approximately 1 in 22 children. The most recent classificaion of vascular anomalies includes two main categories: vascular umours (haemangiomas) and vascular malformations [1]. Several problems can arise from vascular tumours, including unctional (through mass effect), aesthetic impairment, pain, bleedng (platelet sequestration) and disability [2]. They are known to e associated with a number of syndromes involving the head and eck, including PHACE (posterior fossa malformations – haemaniomas – arterial anomalies – cardiac defects – eye abnormalities) 3]. PHACE syndrome is a rare association between cervicofacial aemangiomas, structural brain abnormalities (mainly of the poserior fossa), arterial and cerebrovascular anomalies, aortic and ardiac abnormalities as well as eye defects. It represents a fairly ommon syndrome, identified in 1996 and more common in emales. The haemangioma component in PHACE is very small or

Infantile Hemangiomas: A Disease Model in the Study of Vascular Development, Aberrant Vasculogenesis and Angiogenesis

Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) belong to a family of lesions called vascular anomalies. Vascular anomalies are classified into either vascular tumors or vascular malformations, with the IH being the most common vascular tumor, affecting approximately 5% of infants (Frieden, Haggstrom et al 2005). Despite their prevalence, the origin and pathogenesis of IHs remains poorly understood. Clinically, IH...
